Our Staff
We are an imaginative, innovative and experienced team of two social workers, sessional workers, befrienders and volunteers supported by a social work manager with extensive experience in both field and residential work.
All staff, whether paid or volunteers, are only appointed following full recruitment procedures, including an interview panel and enhanced disclosure check. Full induction training; on-going training; support & supervision are provided.
We are supported by an educational psychologist, a psychiatrist, an educationalist and an art therapist. In addition, we have a Management Committee made up of lay people, parents and professionals to oversee the work of the Project.
Our success is evidenced by the high percentage of young people who were in danger of becoming looked after remaining within their families. To date, only 5% of the young people we have worked with have been received into the care of the Local Authority.
Our Facilities
Muirhead Cottage is located outside the village of Thornton, Fife, three miles from Glenrothes. The rural location of the cottage with its large, enclosed garden containing the gardening project allotment and the art therapy suite, provides an ideal location for individual and family work to take place on a residential or non-residential basis.
The cottage has three bedrooms, one with en-suite facilities, a further bathroom and a modern open-plan kitchen/ dining area/ lounge which lends itself to creating a relaxed atmosphere. The spacious gardens to the rear of the house with the art therapy suite, tree house and allotment are perfect for work and play.
