Muirhead Outreach Project

August 2009

The Eric Hill Band arrived for their 5th tour of Scotland to raise funds for the Project and started off the first week of the tour at The Lomond Hills Hotel, Freuchie – friendly people and a great bar! The Band continued the tour in The Auld Hoose, Cardenden where they met many new friends, were inducted into the community and invited back immediately, before ending the week with a performance at The Stables, Culross where the magnificent sum of £833 was raised by the enthusiastic audience of friends and fans. Our thanks to Amy MacKenzie for all her hard work in organising this event as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.

The second week started off just like the first, playing Wednesday evening at The Lomond Hills Hotel in Freuchie; then two new venues for the Thursday and Friday evening's - The Bruce Tavern, Falkland and The Milton House Hotel, Burntisland - great venues and support from the audiences.

The main event took place on Saturday 15th August at Falkland Community Hall with guests enjoying supper and listening to a brilliant performance from the Band! The event raised over £300 and the Raffle raised £458 - the winner receiving a cash prize of £200 -and all this after Bag Packing during the day at Morrisons Supermarket in Glenrothes - collecting a grand total of £658!

Our thanks to Eric and the Band for the wonderful music, great memories and good times - more information can be found on www.erichill.net

All the hard work is paying off and the year to date fund-raising total now stands at £14,859!

The end of the Summer Activity Scheme was celebrated with a trip to Silver Sands Beach, Aberdour where over 50 children and their families enjoyed a day of wonderful sun-shine, playing games and having a barbecue. The activities were voted a great success and everyone can’t wait until the next holidays in October!
